About Our Team

Our two sonographers are trained to assist Dr. Sheppard with the difficulties of problem pregnancies. Our highly qualified nurse monitors and follows up with patients to assure that everyone receives the highest level of care available. We teach our high risk patients how to best manage their diseases while they are pregnant.

Cindy, RN

Cindy is a Registered Nurse and Diabetic Educator. She earned her Associate’s Degree in Nursing from Austin Community College in 2006 and is currently working toward obtaining her Diabetic Education Certification. Her experience includes Labor and Delivery, Postpartum, Newborn Nursery, and office nursing. She has been with our practice since 2009. She is married and has three school-aged children.

Kathy, RDMS certified sonographer

Kathy is one of our expert sonographers, and has been working here at Hill Country Maternal Fetal Medicine for over five years. She received her training in Radiologic Technology and Diagnostic Ultrasound at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. Afterwards, she obtained her national ultrasound certification (RDMS) in the abdominal and obstetrical/gynecological area.

Luz, Sonographer

Luz, another member of our talented sonography team, is an OB-registered sonographer with specialized training in high-risk pregnancy ultrasound. Before joining Hill Country Maternal Fetal Medicine, Luz worked at Seton Northwest Hospital in Austin, Texas. She also completed a medical rotation at St. Mark’s Medical Center in La Grange, Texas.

Karen, Front Desk and Billing Manager

Karen has worked in the medical field since 1992. With over 20 years of experience in accounting and bank management, she started in patient accounting, but has worked all the way up to Office Manager. Her background in accounting and her experience and expertise in electronic billing and coding make her an excellent Front Desk and Billing Manager. Karen works with insurance companies in order to verify that all claims are paid correctly, which our patients appreciate very much!
